Lancel, Heritage meets The Future
Lancel RTW 19- Fall-winter 2019 collection
Lancel seemed different I thought as I picked up my glittering star and headed up the stairs to the sound of music, laughter and clinking glasses. I was right it’s changed, they describe it in their press release as “paying no heed to convention, yet without disregarding 143 years of history”.
The energy which results is palpable.
So, the Fall-Winter 2019 collection is devised by a new creative team lead by Barbara Fusillo. Who joined Lancel in September 2017.
After time spent at Miu Miu and Marc Jacobs, Barbara is now heading up the brands new creative direction.
Established in 1876, Lancel bags have always been created both for visual appeal and practicality, as well is being modern.
Now, Lancel is building on this excellent heritage and philosophy by drawing on its constantly evolving expertise, which has made the label so famous and successful. The brand is focussing on being in tune with an ever changing world and to quote the press release again “Lancel designs bags that are chameleons — bags with personality, at once up-to-date, beautiful and functional, and always with the same high quality standards.”
Designed in Paris and crafted in Italy, guaranteeing expertise and quality, the FW19 collection showcases colours and blends of materials that update the classics.Established bags like Ninon is now either totally in snakeskin in black current or midnight blue or in olive/khaki is just trimmed with snakeskin, or for the bold, a stunning all yellow version.
The Lancel has a new, feminine detachable handle; a leather bow in autumnal colours, whilst Pia gets a look with a signature double LL in enamelled metal.
This signature line has been expanded with an oversized vertical tote in smooth, two-toned leather. Also the brand classic bucket bag is now using hot colours like candy pink and Papua, plus new leathers including crocodile effect calfskin.
This season Lancel also offers four new bags designed to be lame classics. Firstly The Clic with a retro-chic look with a double gusset and a bold flap that closes over a front pocket. This bag is inspired by the archives.
Rocker style hardware on the design such as double screws, oversized zip pull, metal ring detail and large handle brings this look resolutely to the city ready for urban action. Next we have The Izy bag, with its bucket bag silhouette, and its top stitching to add structure, is versatile day to night bag.
Then there is The Ellie bag which has leather bows and a zip detail and comes in either a very rounded silhouette bag or an up to the minute bumbag version.
Finally The Charlie Chic bag has a new take on the Charlie clasp, going for a graphic, sleek, and seventies-inspired look.
So, I partied on to celebrate the past , the present and the future of Lancel.
