Miu Miu, traditionally the younger sister of Prada, was in a mixed mood this season.

One moment she was Goth and gritty, the next urban guerilla,  then again she was sweetly pretty.

The clue for the first look was in the dark shiny fringe of the model and long black military coat of the opening look, swiftly followed by a long black cloak,  but just as we thought we knew what the season was all about; suddenly a whisper of white lace popped into view, and we knew the collection was about contrasts.

This white lace was then again followed by black looks with a slightly 70’s feeling to them, even perhaps a hint of Yves Saint Laurent?

Long polished shiny hair and strong makeup.

More white , softness and transparency, then suddenly we plunged into camouflage and a hooded jacket, a tiny cropped jacket, a long fit and flare Kings Road coat, a cardigan jacket over minuscule shorts, all in camouflage, which of course really hit home this story.

There  was also a tightly belted nylon teffeta parka jacket and a hooded cape also in camouflage plus some wonderful tufted knitwear in thick swirly knit.. Yet again we switched moods and a white cagoule style jacket covered in bright field flowers, worn with a sensible librarians tweed skirt,  flounced past.

Wow. With her handbag poised over her arm, the look was classic Miu Miu ladylike, as was was the version  which followed on a black ground worn with old rose coloured flared skirt.

Some long tweed coats with fluffy fur collars  followed afterward, again in the Miss Marple meets Miu Miu manner. Yet again the mood shifted for the lacy knit sweater with three dimensional roses in sky blue and white, covering the puff sleeves. The final theme was a full  flouncy skirt story; tiered and ruffled in a range of variations,  all in taffeta.

This final explosion of dancing can can fabric encompassed the gothic look worn with a long black velvet cape, the urban story with a flirty full skirt in camouflage and the pretty story in floral under a pink shearling cape.

So Miu Miu girls have many fashion moods and can switch from Morticia Addams, to librarian,to Bond Street chic, to dirty dancer; all in the blink of an eye.

As the title to an old film has it “Something for everyone”,  and what’s wrong with that.
