Maison Michel goes Gangster
Maison Michel – RTW 19- Fall-winter 2019 Hats collection
The historical hatter’s presentation for the winter 19/20 season was inspired by gangsters from times past and present and was the leitmotif throughout the collection of the Haute Couture crafted hattery.
Considering the many years that this house has been open, it is no wonder that their doors have been darkened by a real gangster or two its time. The label is backed and supported by Chanel who has made a mission out of supporting Frances artisanal industry by keeping some of the traditional houses like Maison Michel alive.
This season the milinery house offered a fun yet classy selection of men’s and women’s styles; white straw fedoras for both sexes, several pretty headband mico-hats created from elegant satin bows with a very 1920s feel.
There was a very Chanel inspired black wool cloche-bucket and picture hat both detailed in silver stitches and white flowers with pearls.
While several other models made use of the new Maison Michel interchangeable hat accessories that decorated the crown of the hats.
The accessories interchanged from classic 20s, to sporty riders, to modern hip-hop gangster styles.
We have seen an awful lot of hats these days on the runway and it is only a matter of time when the Midas touch of the Chanel brand and the current trend will collide and the investment will start to pay off.
