The first Vegan Fashion Week took place in Los Angeles CA
First Vegan Fashion Week in L.A CA / feb 1st-4th 2019
After New York, London, Milan and Paris, it is the turn of Los Angeles to host its fashion week, a bit special, because it is under the sign of respect for animals.
To participate in the event, the selected brands should not use in their creations animal components, such as leather, fur, wool, cashmere, or silk.
From February 1st to 4th, on the catwalk, a dozen international vegan creators paraded models wearing their vegan pieces.
Visitors were also able to discover a living room with clothing, cosmetics, manufactured with no animal cruelty, showing that a plant option with animal components is possible.
Leather made from pineapple, eucalyptus, apple, synthetic fur or recycled polyester, like Stella McCartney’s, are gradually replacing animal products.
In 2018, Zara, H & M, Gap and Topshop announced that they would gradually give up the use of mohair wool, made from the fleece of the angora goat, by 2020. For many years, many brands also renounce fur, disowned by consumers.
