Rami Kadi SS19 – Spring 2019 collection – Fashion Week
January 22nd, 20.30pm
Colour rules Rami Kadi’s creative heart for certain, even the silvery or black fabrics and embroideries within his collection seem to sparkle and shimmer.
The short flared ballerina skirt teamed with a tiny iridescent corset top shown on Coco Rocha, which opened the show, pointed towards special occasions, parties and gala events. Iridescence, shimmer and an almost electric quality to the colours dazzled; with brilliant tangerine, deep jade and poison green shades echoed in the bejewelled embellishments throughout the collection.
Drape was also a string feature beautifully handled, especially in rainbow iridescence a long shoulder panel flung in the air by the model as she sharply turned.
Another superb draped dress indeed was solid silver and gold, like moulted metal around the model, whilst a long slender skirt literally encrusted with dancing rainbow coloured paillettes was worn with a sky blue, softly draped and bow tied blouse, fabricated out of the softest fluid slipper satin.
One bejewelled simple shift shape looked as though assembled from stained glass or a kings ransom of jewels, as it spun and sparkled under the catwalk spotlights. A swan white ball gown had delicate fronds of ostrich plumes dancing across the portrait neckline, whilst the dress itself was a white on white parchment like patchwork of textures.
White obviously was also the colour of the closing bridal gown, the fragments of mirror like embroidery like shafts of sunlight, striking across the surface in diagonals.
The huge kokoshnik tiara was a filigree of floral tracery which completed this ceremonial splendour.
Showing in the evening was entirely appropriate for this designer whose glamour revels under chandeliers.
