Toni Maticevski – centre stage beauty. Spring-summer 2019, RTW Collection
Toni Maticevski, RTW SS19 Collection – Paris Fashion Week
Australian designer Toni Maticevski creates clothes whose couture credentials lift them above ready-to-wear.
– by Tony Glenville
Exquisite and opulent fabrics, amazing technical construction, and the finest quality finish possible to each and every piece.
The collection was grouped in seven colour stories: ink black, chalk white, pewter grey, rose madder, silver, ecru and blush; plus a stunning group in neon yellow.
This last group especially showed how organza, crepe de chine, and lace offer stunningly different opportunities for design even with the same colour- short and long, fluid and structured, and so on…
Maticevski clearly has an instinctive feeling for fabric; she used a jersey in the pewter group for fluid, almost molten silhouettes, and a pale ecru duchesse satin for a top with a collar like a huge petal framing the neck.
The silver in the collections was a jacquard of baroque patterning on a white, with just a tiny bit of grey, ground?.
Meanwhile, the blush pink fabric has the outline of white flowers, with appliques of the same pattern overlaid on to the surface.
Making an entrance without attention would be impossible in these beautiful clothes, and surely with such colours and fabrics the wearer must feel like a star? As already mentioned the silhouettes range from full and grand to slim and sexy, offering every centre stage star an option.
Red-carpet or gala, awards ceremony or charity dinner, when dressing for an occasion, this definitely is the collection to look.
