A sexy chic seems to be the best way to describe her clothes. There is no vulgarity but an edge of saloon girl or indeed the nineteen eighties exuberant couture of Emanuel Ungaro is never far away.
In the high ceilinged salons with their pale interiors, parquet floors and Napoleonic gilded mirrors, we watched as models glided in and out.
A fragile lace blouse worn with a neat skirt and tasseled boots, was followed by a sliver of satin dress teamed with a draped capelet. A cowgirl shirt in lace and crepe-de-chine was worn with a draped skirt almost constructed like a big bow, and a brilliant coloured blossom print was transformed into the curved leg-of-mutton sleeve on a blouse.
This was shown with jeans. A long black crepe skirt gave the impression of being a deeply fringed shawl knotted around the waist, yet it was a fully constructed piece. This was worn with a white silk jacquard lace-trimmed short-sleeved shirt.
Stand out shoes, to accompany her collections, are certainly Magda’s forté and the spotted bow-tie mules somehow evoked the Second Empire and perhaps Manet? So, feminine, romantic, and of the highest quality; this is a winning combination.
