Christian Wijnants – Fashion at its best.
Christian Wijnants RTW Spring 2019 Collection
One of the most interesting things about those clever designers who evolve and subtly shift their signatures is that they can often be more relevant than those who constantly chop and change and run after the new.

This season the fashion nomads, beloved of Christian Wijnants, embraced colour so brilliantly, and the prints were so perfectly judged that it blew many other collections out of my memory.
Ice blue, with leaf green and daffodil yellow, sap green, marigold and fuchsia, tangerine, leaf green, begonia and ice blue, the endless permutations were stunning and fresh and floral and lovely.
Easy layered pieces looked effortless as the models strolled in the breeze. Checks in tonal shades from cool neutrals through soft blues and into vivid geranium shades.
Finally the florals in varying scales from Pointelist to Fauves inspirations once+ again layered and mixed; sometimes together and sometimes with plain pieces like a soft unstructured summer trench, or a shiny crackly marron glacé coloured parka blouson.
Covered up and demure, or suspended on spaghetti straps the dresses swung and moved, often panelled in mix and match prints. Thee was even a solid flower printed long line blazer to finish the collection off brilliantly.
The models looked beautiful and so at ease in the clothes, clothes for women of all types and clothes for today and tomorrow, clothes to buy and wear and live in and feel great in.
In other words simply great fashion.
