Marine Serre – Piece by Piece by Piece RTW SS19 – PFW2018
Both in the presentation of such a variety of pieces and the assembling of many of those pieces from several fabrics, Marine Serre sent out a strong message that her collection is about clothes, and wearing them.

From the opening almost gypsy like patterned dresses through to the sleek fitted suits and into the triumphant evening gowns the designer showed great confidence and handled everything from a Lycra body suit embellished with a dragon to a tailored “Working Girl” skirt suit in bright turquoise with a deft hand.
To this viewer there was a hint of golden age Jean-Paul Gaultier at times, again perhaps because of the range of the ideas and looks, plus menswear and children’s wear.
The whole collection had a joyous quality as the models strode past, right by the trains departing and arriving at Gare du Nord, on the miles of runway.
They seemed to be embarking and arriving, like the trains on journeys through life, and Marine Serre certainly provided them with a suitable wardrobe of clothes to take them from sharp white jogging suit, to peppermint sweater and matching scarf, or bright printed flirty cocktail dress. Suddenly fashion seemed about enjoying the twists and turns of real life, in real clothes.
